If you have a finished basement, do you have a bathroom in it? If so, this bathroom is most likely below the level of your septic system, so how does it get the sewage out of the basement? This is usually done with the help of a sewage ejector pump. In many ways, this is similar to a sump pump, but it does have a few differences. Usually, they will have higher torque that lets them handle solids, while a sump pump only deals with water. There is even a commercial version of the pump called a grinder pump that will grind up solids to make it easier to pump them out of the basement.
To install one of these pumps, you will first need to dig out a sewage pit where the sewage will sit when the pump isn’t running. This is to make it so the pump doesn’t need to run constantly. It is something of a “pit-stop” before it goes up the pipe.
While it is an ingenious solution to the problem, it isn’t very complicated.
